All 17 yachts participating in the International Darwin to Ambon Yacht Race are expected to cross the Finish line at The Amahusu Village Beach, Nusaniwe Regency, Ambon, on Thursday July 28th 2011. The Yacht Race was flagged off at Darwin Harbour, Australia, on Saturday, 23 July.

First Yacht to reach Ambon’s Amahusu beach was Fantasia, captained by Andrew Stransky, passing the finish line on Monday, July 25th at 20.30 eastern Indonesia Time. The leading yacht was followed by Walk on the Wildside captained by Garth Curran, Freedom Express captained by Ross Mc Combe, Australian Maid captained John Wardill, Sue Sea captained by Brian Todd, XScape captained by Andrew Boller, and Game Set captained John Mulkearns, arriving Tuesday, July 26th.

「Up to this moment, there are only two yachts that have yet to cross the finish line. These are the Wicked, captained by Danny Foley, and Solace III captained by Roger Hatten」 said Darwin’ Committee Chairman, Robin Tix, as reported Antaranews. According to Robin, observations conducted this Thursday morning suggest that the two yachts are likely to arrive today. The Wicked is estimated to arrive at 10.30 Eastern Indonesia Time and Solace III at 11.30 Eastern Indonesia Time.

Meanwhile, two boats arrived this Thursday morning. They are the Pandora captained by Rick Setter, at 02.30 Eastern Indonesia Time and Shady Lady captained by Peter Charles at 07.00 Eastern Indonesia Time.」 The winds are not very friendly to participants, especially around Ambon Bay, as winds come from opposite directions, making it hard to get to Amahusu Village Beach.」said Robin.

On Wednesday, Even Karma captained by John Hardy, Breakaway VI captained by Alan Chalk, Kuching captained by Bruce Panting, Raucous captained by Bob Colman, Kind of Blue captained by Dick van der Waaij and Maralinga captained by John Jordan, joined the rest of the flotilla.

Aside from the 17 racing yachts, there are also the Parley, captained by Ray Jones and Scott Free II captained by Barrie Morgan, who arrived in Ambon on Monday, but are participants in the Sail Indonesia Rally.
